Wet Hot American Summer
I'd have to admit that this was really really good! It is an excellent spoof on the 80s teens/kids at summer camp idea. This was hilarious like you couldn't believe I was smiling and laughing all the way through it they hit piratically every cliche they could to make this one awesome and it all works.
It also has many familiar faces like Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Molly Shannon, Amy Poehler and Christopher Meloni to name a few I personally have to say that that all Christopher Meloni was seriously funny in all this scenes he totally owned every one he was in. Its funny watching him go completely crazy when you're use to seeing him as the serious and tough Detective Stabler on SVU. and yes everyone else was excellent in this as well I loved the Music Montage's in this you can't have an "80s" movie with out one and this one had 3!! Hells yeah!
also who who names their camp Camp Firewood? is that just a a bit lazy? but it was all very funny especially the talking can of Mixed Vegetables, Janeane Garofalo phone freak out and what was the deal with every camper having a weird Jewish type name like Cooperberg and Kleinenstein? anyway this movie was awesome if you love the 80s teen flick you'll love this.
The 41-Year-Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall and Felt Superbad About It
Oh God that was funny! it is one of those movies that is done in the "Scary Movie" parody style that takes scenes form the movies in this movies title and other movies and weaves them in to one film with hilarious results. I knew this would be funny just at the opening credits and I have to say The guy who played Stephen Kramer Glickman who played Seth Rogen was amazing you actually think its him. This whole thing was full of laughs and apparently vomit? I don't know who someone could puke that much? the editing was a bit choppy but the acting was perfect and the music made me laugh also and this was full of pop culture references that were a laugh in them self the Twilight ones were great as were stuff for To Catch a Predator, UFC, those stupid Dos Equis commercials and the Angelina Jolie/Madonna gag was a good laugh and those are just to name a few. this movie is of course stupid and mindless but it sure is a lot of fun and will make you laugh!
The Dunwich Horror
I was familiar with The Dunwich Horror which is biased on a short story by H. P. Lovecraft.
and is part of the stories of the Cthulhu Mythos. So I wanted to give it a watch. I would have to say it wasn't bad it has that Made for TV feel to it and was probably done for the Sci-fi channel. The actual movie itself plays out in a way like an episode of the X-Files. I would have to say the acting wasn't that bad it was better then I thought it would be and the editing was a bit interesting as well as for the effects they were bad at all either and the music was good as well.
the one funny thing about this film is all the locations they went to seemed rather familiar so that just mean I'm watching to many movies lol. but this wasn't bad but at the same time it was excellent either it was an interesting watch though if you are familiar with the characters give it a watch.
Youth in Revolt
Well I don't know just what to say about that one it was different.
I remember seeing the ads for it and thinking it looked pretty good and it was pretty good it was a bit quirky and odd and had a lot of familiar and famous faces in it.
It animation parts were different but worked and I wish they had subtitles for the couple of french bits in there. It isn't really funny in the beginning I didn't start laughing until I'd say 40-45mins into it. I also like Michael Cera he plays a good "average guy" and I think that has a lot to do with his look. Also the idea of him creating the "super cool bad boy" who will do everything that he was to afraid to do is similar to Edward Norton&Brad Pitt in Fight Club.
The ending of this was a bit weird but all around this was a pretty fun movie to watch I can't really complain about it.
Shrek: Forever After
The Final Chapter...
Shrek and the gang return for there fourth and final installment (or so they say)
Shrek feeling the burden of being famous and now a domesticated family man
is yearning for his glory days when Ogres were feared and not celebrated.
After an out burst at his children's birthday party Shrek storm off and meets
up with the smooth talking Rumpelstiltskin who offers Shrek a chance to
relive his days when an ogre was an ogre in exchange for 1 other day.
Shrek agrees and rumple takes his payment sending our lovable hero to
an alternate reality where he was never born.
Donkey is a prisoner, puss is fat and lazy, Fiona is a tough hardened and
hateful warrior princess and rumple is king. so it is a race against
time to set things right again and stop rumples nefarious plot.
as Shrek Learns that you don't know what you have until its gone.
Personally if this is the final chapter in the series it was quite the send off this was true
Shrek form as it has gone back to its roots the story is well done the jokes are funny and the animation and effects are seamless as well as impressive especially in 3D (in which I seen it) the production design and characters are excellent and flawless.
even the music was perfect and helped the jokes at certain times I am so pleased how this
turned out and couldn't have wished for and better ending to the series.
Return to House on Haunted Hill
I remember seeing this advertised and thinking that I would give it a
watch sometime and do remember watching the first one in 1999 and thinking
it was a pretty good spooker so I thought I would give this one a watch.
The opening titles were pretty good it was a interesting way of doing them the
blood effect reminded me of the Dawn of the Dead remake they had a similar
effect if I remember correctly. The acting was a bit off that the start
but once they arrived at the house I found that the movie really picked up.
basically a paramilitary group lead by an opportunistic treasure hunter
followed closely by a professor and some others end up at the house
searching for a valuable item hidden there and as they make there way
through they are set upon by the ghosts. I would have to say I was
very pleased by how this turned out it was very good better then i
thought it would be there was thought a surprising about of nudity in
this but I can't say I was complaining but the film was good I would have
say better then the first the make-up effects and as well as visual ones
were quite impressive such as the face cutting scene as the sheets one in
the front room. also there is a scene after the credits for those
interested but all in all I rather enjoyed it.
Iron Man 2
Iron Man soars in a Brand new adventure that can only be powered by
arc reactor technology in one of the summers most anticipated movies!
I was so excited to see this and had very high expectations for it I
personally try not to have expectations when going into a movie but
I could help it with this one and I would have to say that it didn't just meet
them it surpassed them!
the cast is phenomenal Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark I don't believe
anyone could do a better job with this character then him.
and everyone else shines in their part Samuel L. Jackson as Furry
Sam Rockwell and Justin Hammer, is awesome and you just want to hate
him as this character. I even though Scarlett Johansson was very
good as Black Widow I was a bit saddened that she didn't adopt a
Russian accident for the part but at the same time her character is
a super spy so I would think her speaking in perfect English works in
her favor for that it shows how good she is at blending in.
and I must mention Mickey Rourke as Whiplash (or should I say the
Whiplash/Crimson Dynamo hybrid) he was a prefect villain he played
that so well like incredibly well the fight at the race track you actually
believe that he has Iron Man defeated and that the hero has fallen.
the only casting I was worried about was the replacement of Terrence Howard
with Don Cheadle because I thought Terrence Howard fit that part so well
but Don Cheadle did a very good job in that part.
and finally John Slattery portrayal of Howard Stark reminded me so much
of Walt Disney I don't know if that is how it was suppose to be but
that is what I gotten from it.
as for the story it picks up shortly after the first one left off
and deals with Stark's revelation that he is Iron Man. The story
touches on so many aspects of Tony's comic book past his inflated
ego and his alcoholism as the government hounds him for the secret
of the Iron Man suit, The realization that the prolonged use of
his chest battery is killing him and the looming threat of people
with sinister plans getting there hands on this technology.
you watch as his life spirals out of control and down the tubes
but again finds personal redemption with the help of Nick Furry,
S.H.E.I.L.D and his best friend Rhodey and proves that even though
Iron Man might be Invincible but the man in side is just as flawed
and vulnerable as the rest of us.. the scene with pepper and the
strawberries was I think a good example of that.
as for the effects they were seamless perfect, the action was explosive
and exciting and the wit and humor gave me a smile and a chuckle
and I think my biggest smile came from the scene after the credits.
second biggest smile was probably the Captain America's Shield gag.
but all in all this movie was excellent I loved it and had no complaints
about it at all.
