Brothers
I Wanted to see this mainly since it stars 3 really great actors at least I think so, also
the trailers looked very good. Now this is a very powerful emotionally charged film that has
a bit of sadness to it. Personally I think if this doesn't win an Oscar or doesn't even get
nominated then this is a problem somewhere. The story is very good and you can see the role
reversal half way through. where Jake Gyllenhaal plays a an ex-con who is the brother of the
"all American boy" and Marine Tobey Maguire who is the family favorite and perfect
father/Husband who get sent off to Afghanistan and become "presumed dead" and Jake
Gyllenhaal's character ends up doing the right thing helping out Tobey's widow and kids
inadvertently taking his place. This is where the role reversal come in to play when Tobey's
character returns and and somewhat take the role of Gyllenhaal's character and the angry
outside who is dealing with PTSD for some of the things he did over seas and it all comes to
a sad very somber end.
While watching it I thought Gyllenhaal's character did the right thing is helping out
Portman's grieving widow. I personally don't have a brother but have someone who I would say
I treat like one since I've known them for so long and if a situation happened where he
possibility died I would want to help out his wife and kid the best I could because they were
important to him I don't know if his wife would want me to being I don't think she likes me
much so I'd be there for his kid at least. also I wouldn't have told the terrorist anything
about what they wanted to know and also I wouldn't have killed the guy with the pipe I would
have probably hit the guy with the hand gun or thrown it at the dude with the glasses and if
they killed me at least I'd know I went down fighting! anyway this is an awesome movie and
should be watched.
Bitch Slap!!
I don't know exactly what to say about this one. It was one of those movies you hear a lot
about then nothing at all. I wanted to see it because I always have an interest in
entertainment featuring strong female characters and this has that in spades it almost plays
out in a way like a music video. The film is one big wet dream sexy girls, guns, girl fights,
pole dancing, strippers, wet t-shirts, butt shaking, boobs jiggling, tough talking ladies,
ect. you name it! its in here. The writing is a bit juvenile but funny you'll probably get a
chuckle or a laugh out of it while you are watching and speaking of the fights again they are
very good you have to watch this just for that *S* one thing I liked was the little Asian
girl with the yo yo that was pretty cool and the story or should I say back story is told
through a series of flash backs that tell you what and why the girl are out in the desert in
the start of the film. although the ending was a bit predictable this was a fun movie it is
not the best movie but I did enjoy it and hell even the closing credits are worth watching
*lol*
Staunton Hill
This was an alright movie, not the best but alright I though it was nicely shot and pretty
well acted. One thing I noticed is the poster for this at the top of the page is almost
Identical to the one for Stir of Echos and this movie also stars the big lady/tea lady from
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. Her and the one playing her mom in this deliver some good
laughs but I didn't find it scary art all it was kind of slow it wasn't until I'd say an hour
in to the movie before it began to pick up.
Your basic story is it takes place in the 60s as a group of Teens/20 somethings are on there
way to Washington DC run into car trouble and take shelter in a near by farm only to be set
upon by the inhabitants of the farm who knock them off one by one in order to sell the body
parts on the black market. like I said it was an alright movie but was a bit slow for the
first hour.
The Woodsman
I seen this a few years ago around the time it was released on video but for some reason I
was thinking about it all day and I thought I would give it another watch.
Kevin Bacon is a cool guys and a good actor and this is a very powerful and moving film
its a story about a broken man who is trying to get his life back on track after being gone
for along time for the crimes he committed. I think it is well acted and beautifully shot
with some very nice symbolism. The only thing that angers me about the movie is that
secretary at the lumber yard should of kept her noise out of his business and let it be like
her boss said but not she had to go and try and force him out of his job and tell everyone I
hope she was fired for that. anyway this is a good movie if you can handle the subject
matter.
Late Fee
um...ok
well this movie is one of those anthology ones were you get a couple of short stories instead
of on long story. The basic story in as follows a couple taking it easy from the Halloween
party scene decide to rent some scary movies and have a nice spooky time at home. The head
off to a store that boasts the scariest movies in the world they pick up a couple and the
guy behind the register tells them if they do not return them on time they will suffer the
consequences of the Late Fee! OoOoOoOoOo. as the couple watch their movies you get to see
them as well these are the 2 short stories that comprise this film. The 2 stories are kind
of stupid and try to give off this "Grindhouse" feel the second seemed longer then the first
and was more retarded. in the end they failed to return the videos on time and ending up
paying the Late Fees with their lives! *gasp, shock!* the film it self was very amateurish
this is truly low budget and the editing was very wonky at times the only real good thing I
can say about this this film is the store in it where the videos come was was real cool
looking I would mind visiting it because I'm assuming it is an actual place (I doubt they
would have the money in the budget to create one *lol* )
