I was curious about the whole 3D aspect of the thing being this was my first Digital 3D movie
I had the chance to see stuff in 3D previously but I didn't I waited for this because I knew
it would be awesome and I wanted it to be special but the person I went with seen a few
things in the 3D way and told me it wasn't like "original 3D" with stuff popping out at you
in that cheesy way so when the movie started I put on my glasses and the first thing I saw
was the Trailer for Shrek 4 and I started freaking out a bit, it was like I was having some
crazy drug fulled trip *lol* and then after that one it was the trailer for Alice in
Wonderland in 3D and by then I had the hang of it I think it was just being that it was
something new and I never seen it before so it took a minute or so to get use to it there
were a couple non 3D ones after that and then the real magic the movie itself started and
what I seen there I almost can't describe, it was truly beautiful when we were leaving I
said to my friend "I have witnessed the future and it is called Avatar 3D..."
it was a very impressive effect thought at one point when they were going through the jungle
I even moved my head slightly because I thought one of the plants was going to hit me in the
face!?! and things like the dust or Ash from the Home Tree or even those little white
spidery tree spirit things it was like you could reach out and brush it out of the way.
it was very realistic it seemed to implement almost like a layer structure instead of watch
a flat image like you do with most movies it pulled things out to give it the sense of depth
kind of like watching a pop-up book or like one of those Hologram card you use to get.
but I was very impressed it seemed to pull you in to the film rather then just watch it.
it in terms its not a movie you watch but you experience.
Like I said the thing was awesome the characters and designs, The action the story ever thing
was truly impressive I think you have to see this in 3D to truly experience and enjoy it.
La Chiave - The Key
This was an alright movie, its one of those movies you would find in the erotic
thriller/drama section of the local video store it has nudity and sexual situations in it but
it wouldn't be considered porn it is very softcore. I wanted to give this a look mainly
because the plot description sounded interesting. The only real problem is there is a lot of
the talking is in Italian I think and I don't speak that but oddly enough you can get the
basic just of what they are talking about but there is a lot of English spoken as well I'd say
it is pretty much half and half in a way. Another thing I was wondering through the film is
the professors wife although very attractive seems quite young to be married to him for 20
years and it is stated in the film
anyway the basic story is he wants his wife to loosen up and be more sexual and he ends up
getting jut that through a series of events and she ended up killing the the poor professor
with a case of coitus! and what a horrible fate that be *lol* anyway this was rather funny
and if you like these types of movies give this one a look.
The Road
Well first off there wasn't much press for this was it a limited release? I know it was
playing in a theater somewhere. I personally only seen one TV spot once for this and that
was it. there was virtually no ads on TV for it and in my local theater there was no
mention of it at all no posters no trailers no nothing. We have a big multiplex so they
usually play just about everything that is "coming soon to a theater near you" and with all
the big names in it you would think it would get a little more press. The only reason I knew
about this one was the one TV spot and people talking about it online.
It is a dark bleak future similar to what is seen in stuff like Children of Men or the
Terminator, but this isn't an action adventure type of this is very dramatic some what sad
in a way. I'm assuming in the story there was some type of nuclear attack of some sort and
what is left is a dying world. Through the film you follow a father and son on a journey
through the decaying remnants of civilization and the world as a whole..
you watch them in pain and desperation as they struggle to survive. this is a movie that you
would want to be watching on a fun movie night even though it was nicely shot and well acted.
Through the movie the father seemed very sick I was wondering from what? some form of
cancer, radiation poisoning or maybe some respiratory problem like TB developed, I'm not
sure. Also I didn't much like the the ending it doesn't explain much you think there would
be more but the ending was kind of abrupt but it was a pretty good movie.
Inglourious Basterds
Well first off I have to say I am not a really big fan of Quentin Tarantino I don't believe
he is the cinematic genius people make him out to be I personally think he is pompous,
arrogant has an extremely high sense of self importance and self grandeur. Now being that I
don't know the man personally I don't know that what I said is true it is just an opinion I
have based on what I seen in interviews and the like. Usually watching any of his movies is
pretty cringe worthy experience but being I'm a impartial when it comes to movies I'll watch
anything and honestly say what I thought about it.
Now of course when it came to this and knowing that is was Quentin Tarantino's I did say
"ugh" but then I heard nothing but good things about it so I thought I would give it a watch
and as much as it pains me to say it was pretty good it is completely from all of this other
films and is rather enjoyable to watch it is interesting and fun, well
acted/cast/shot/written. It had a good start and a good end a good flow in between even
yellow subtitles which i was pleased with being that I find them easier to read being that
they don't clash with anything in the background.
it felt like a serious film and none of what I said about him above seemed to shine through
so I was pleased all in all it was a good film after all, I was pleased and a bit impressed.
Gutterballs
Well now I don't know just how to describe this one...horror porn? I guess that sounds about
right. it was an interesting movie at first it reminded me of the 70's exploitation films similar
to "I Spit on your Grave/Day of the Woman" where something happens to the girl and she comes back and gets revenge but there were some hardcore porn type moments in this with Blow jobs and 69ing as
well as well as full on sex. also the kills were quite different and rather unique. The
cinematography was quite good with plenty of nice shots *lol* the acting wasn't the best but
it was good it was it felt fun and fresh and pretty realistic not the best but far from the
worst. I found the ending kind of wonky but ,he movie is kind of funny but like I said there
is plenty of T&A but also a fair warning some scenes depicted in this motion picture are not
for the faint of heart. ;)
Ancient Aliens
I like watching Documentaries some of them can be very thought provoking and fun as well as
interesting especially if it is on a topic that you are fascinated with much like this one
I found this very good I enjoyed mainly because I'm interested in this stuff. Personally I
think it is all true I don't subscribe to the be all end all answer "God did it!" like some
people try to cram down your throat or worked away at it with just a small hand chisel and
hammer I think there were helping hands out side the religion aspect and what people claim
happened but it does have many compelling arguments and is a enjoyable thought provoking
film.
Leviathan
I remember seeing the VHS box for this over the years but never took a chance on it I always
thought it was about some huge prehistoric monster under water hence the name.
I had renewed interest in this recently due to the fact that every time I went into
blockbuster the DVD case for this for some reason stood out its like the first thing I'd see
when i went in its one of those ones with the 3D lithograph on it. Anyway I thought I would
give it a watch it features many familiar faces such as Peter Weller (Robocop himself) and
Ernie Hudson (Winston Zeddemore) among others. as for the movie it was pretty good lots of
excitement and action I liked the designs of the Aqua suits those were pretty cool. but a
couple of things bothered me wouldn't a place like that have some type of underwater vehicle
like a mini sub or something? also I was wondering wouldn't it also have some type of
incinerator for garbage and waste? if so you would think it would be more logical to have
put the creature in that then shooting it out into the ocean. also the character of "six
pack" wasn't to bright you find a liquid on the bottom of the ocean your first instinct
shouldn't be to guzzle it down...?? but other then that it was a pretty good watch.
