Suburban Secrets (2004)

One of the reasons I decided to watch this was that redheaded girl
on the cover was hot!
Now i know picking movies based on the hotness of the girl on the
cover is not the best way in doing things but in this case I wasn't going
to pass up a hot redhead girl.
Now I have to say I have watched plenty of Erotic Thrillers in the
past but this alone just just erotic and no thriller. Its like something you
would see on late night cable on second thought I don't think it is even good
enough for late night cable.
at a surprising 2 and a half run time there is about I'd say 45mins of actual story the
rest is just all Softcore sex!
That's right this has nudity and lots of it! with plenty of bumping and grinding to boot.
Basically Laura a world famous nude model (the redhead) find out from
her sister that her cougar aunt Cynthia and the one who is running the
local news paper is having wild sex with her an ex boyfriend by the name
of Nelson (who is also banging his sister?) so Laura apparently hops on the
bus (yes the bus, you would think a a world famous model wouldn't be riding
the bus and would have a car and driver or at least a car) and heads home to
see about this mess and then the sexing begins!
personally the opening titles and the music wasn't bad when there was music
and the woman were attractive it was kind of hard to believe that aunt Cynthia
was older then redhead Laura but then again you never know.
Like I said there wasn't much in the way of the story but there was this
odd incest subplot were the character of Nelson is fantasying about his
sister after she constantly flirts with him then he ends up having sex with
her and also Laura has wild lesbian sex with her aunt Cynthia after her aunt
reviles that she had a sexual relationship with Laura's mom for over 20 years!
Now your first response should not be to also have sex with her..
also there is a scene were after Nelson and Laura are reunited and have sex,
Nelson's sister is pissed off at Laura so what does she do as a revenge? why have
sex with her of course!
This movie is truly twisted and very awful the acting is horrible the worst
of the bunch had to be Chelsea Mundae who played Laura's sister Winnifred.
she was so bland you could have put one of those cardboard cut-outs in her place
with someone saying her lines off stage with a megaphone and that would have
been a better performance. Also in this people are obsessed with nipples there are
all kinds of conversations in this about nipples. Now I like nipples also and nipple
placement is important but but do you need like 5 fully fleshed out conversations
about nipples?
anyway this is kind of horrible camera work isn't that good, writing isn't that
much better (how can we fit more nipples in?) and acting isn't that good (some are
better then others) but I would say pass on this unless you are hurting bad for some
nudity and softcore situations.

The Expendables

This Passed Tuesday (Aug 24, 2010) I went and did a Double Feature at the Movie theater
First film that was screened was Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables.
So Part I go!

The Expendables

what would happen if you put all the great action stars past and present in one movie?
you get the Expendables!!

I wanted to see this becasue I grew up with alot of these guys kicking
ass solo but to see them all in one movie together is like having the planets align!
it is something that comes along once in a life time. When I went to see this it
was a sold out crowd by the time the lights went down and it started.
The movie itself had a quick start and suttle opening titles with very non
intrusive letting but this one gets straight to the action.
It has great music almost classic action movie music through out pulse
pounding when it needs to be and dramatic when it needs to be and there
was even some country thrown at a couple of points which makes you smile.
The scene with Arnold alone was worth the price of admission it was awesome.
The jokes alone in that one scene made me laugh as he and Stallone's character
trade barbs back and forth it was just perfect.
Also the relationship between Stallone's character and Statham's was great
also with Jet Lee's and everyone else for that matter, you did get that feeling
that that these guys all worked together and were pretty much a team.
No one felt like they stood out from the other you could see them all as a cohesive
unit.
Even Mickey Rourke was great especially when he tells Stallone the story
from his past it was greatly delivered, he keeps proving how amazing he is.
Eric Roberts is also a good villain he was very cold and was very well done as the
ruthless "Mastermind" type of villain.
In the end this is the Quintessential action movie. Guns, girls, amazing action,
stunts and fights. Also there is humor it was very funny and even had some
soon to be classic one liners and all that it was hilarious when it wanted to be
I thought it was basically perfect well acted, filmed everything.
If you love action, you'll love this!

Scott Pilgrim vs. THE WORLD

Part II of our Double feature

Scott Pilgrim vs. THE WORLD

Now everyone talked about this one so I don't have to much to say that
hasn't already been said but here is what I thought of this charming and
funny film.
Based on the popular comic book series of the same name (which I sadly
didn't get the opportunity to read) features the story about a nerdish guy who
finds the girl of his dreams and is thrown in to an unbelievable situation where
he has to fight and defeat her the seven evil and apparently super powered ex boyfriends.
This film is filled with 8-16 bit video game references as well as ones from
pop culture you can tell it is going to be different when the first thing you see
is the 8bit universal logo which was funny in itself.
The whole film is a great laugh with its wacky situations, sharp wit and over
the top battles. The visual style of this film is wonderfully fresh and pulled off
brilliantly, I couldn't see it done any other way. I also like the flashback
that were done in an animated style.
The visual effects where quite amazing the whole thing where you could
see the sound effects the "Bif" "Pow" "Boom" thing gave it a nice and
interesting feel as well as look and made me thing of the Adam West Batman.
Alot of people have said the video game references felt forced, but I don't
believe that at all. I felt that they were well done and where an important part
of this film. being that video games where a part of the characters lives. I in a
way almost pictured it as what the characters were thinking or seeing in there
minds eye a good example would be the "pee bar" it wasn't really there
but it was in the imagination of Michael Cera's character while he would use the
bathroom he would visual the bar.
As for the acting it was very good at times a little over the top here and
there but it would have to be for this. I believe I have mentioned before I
like Michael Cera, he is very good at play that odd but regular guy everyone
seems to know in their life and I would have to say he does shine in this. All most
to the point where you can say that he was born for this part. Also this movie features
appearances by Chris Evans (Johnny Storm & Captain America)
and Brandon Routh (Superman) as two of the evil exes.
The fights and choreography were also excellent.
t in the end this is a crowd pleaser for the nerdish/gamer type of people
(which I am one of) I could go out and and say it is kinda like "kick ass" but
for video games. So if you weren't part of the Super Nintendo Generation and
don't like video games or pop culture then don't watch this, But if you want to see
something fresh, fun, original and funny with a charming story and interesting
characters (I mean come on who names their kid Knives?) then give it a watch.

Joysticks (1983)

With a title like this it sounds like a porn movie, lol

Now this is a movie that is truly showing it age, I remember
going to the arcade when i was a kid, there was a actual functioning
arcade like in this movie where I live straight up to the year 2000 I believe
but of course it finally lost out to the home console market.
Now the only "arcade" around here is the small corner in the movie theater
and the one in one at the bowling alley.
The basic story line of this is the classic "kids like something and the
parents don't" where they try to shut down the arcade being that it is
a place perceived to house many perversities.
The parents are lead on this crusade by Joseph Rutter (Joe Don Baker) to shut
down the arcade reminded me alot of the crazy anti-video-game
activist/Lawyer Jack Thompson who is on a crusade to shut down the video game
industry itself. It made me laugh because that is the first thing that poped into
my mind while watching the Joseph Rutter character I was all "that's Jack Thompson!"
it couldn't have been anyone else but him.
Also it was odd the person who played King Vidiot (Jon Gries) I swear he was the guy
who played Bub the Zombie in Day of the Dead (1985) but as it turns out Bud was actually
Sherman Howard (who is credited as Howard Sherman) which is weird becasue
they just seemed to look so much alike.
I also didn't like the Eugene character I found him rather annoying most of the time.
Also the character of Dorfus, was he suppose to represent the average gamer?
a representation of the "fat unwashed masses" as it is commonly referred to.
Also this had alot more nudity then I thought it would, also the theme to this
was funny, this whole movie was quite humorous, there were some funny moments
like Vidiot and his gang on the little bikes and even a rocky style montage.
all in all this was a pretty good movie, I rather enjoyed it.
so if you like movies like The Wizard (staring Fred Savage!) as well as
Scott Pilgram you might like this one also.

H.O.T.S (1979)

A wacky college exploitation film about a sorority gone wild!
When one of the main characters is not excepted to a sorority run by
the snobby rich girls. She and her over sexed friends decide to start their own
and shortly after the hilarity ensues!
Now I didn't think it was all that funny it might have been in the 70s with its
slight racial stereotypes and predictability. It did have a very interesting
opening opening titles .
Now this movie did have some nice "cinematography" with all with all the tits
and asses shaking and running around and the movies ahem...climax ends with a
big rousing game of Strip football!!
Now like I said there were some predictable moments as well as some stereotypical
things like having one fat girl in the sorority surrounded by all the playboy bunnies
and of course having her fall in love with the only nerdy looking guy on campus
who of course is a member of the neighboring frat.
Now there was very little non sexual action like a car chase and a bar fight.
But of course there is all kinds of wacky antics and even a bear! who seems to
switch from a real bear to a guy in a suit and back to a real bear again!
While watching this the character of Ritchie stood out and I kept
thinking "I know him!" and it turns out that it was none other then
Danny Bonaduce. But in the end if you to see some tits and maybe get some
laughs this is for you.
Basically I think I would describe this as the female version of "Animal House"
or a similar type of movie where the women are doing all the stuff like "jockstrap raids"
instead of panty ones.

Meet the Robinsons

This Animated adventure was very good, it was kind of similar to
Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs in that is has a story about a
young inventor who feels like an outside and is trying to find his
place in the world. There is not much t say about this one other then it
was Fun, Imaginative and quite funny.
the random zaniness in the story is what kept the movie funny for me.
This one also had great music, wonderful animation and excellent voice work
I found the "future" looked very "Seussian" but it was good I like the designs
of the characters and production. Also the character of Bowler Hat Guy was
one of the funniest characters in this and one of the funniest I've seen in a while.
This whole "why I am evil" story was hilarious
but I was thinking if Lewis was keeping him up working on the bran scan thing
why didn't Goob ( Bowler Hat Guy) just go and sleep in another room or
downstairs or somewhere? it was funny all the same. I also like the quote at the end.
This movie was a great animated feature and has a nice message to it.

Ong Bak 3

The craziness continues!

This picks up right after the events of Ong Bak 2 (so if you didn't
see the second you should probably do that first) and Tien (Tony Jaa)
after fight to the end and being beaten is captured and torchered. I thought
there were some especially brutal scenes in the torcher sequence with the guy
taking huge hammers to Jaa's joints.
After that he is sentenced to death but is rescued and take to a village
where he is put on the path to recovery. While this is all going on some
memorable characters from the second make some appearances.
such as the crazy guy with the crazy hair and the weird Crow person
who as a bigger role in this one. A lot of the humor is handled by "Crazy hair guy"
while Crow Person is set up as the main villain after they behead the emperor during
a fight scene when Crow uses their supernatural powers
to take out all of the empiors men and the empior letting Crow take over.
Meanwhile.. through the miracle of eastern mystical medicine Jaa is brought
back to life yet some what crippled, he then with the help of a monk goes
on some sort of vision quest which heals the rest of his body and his mind.
Which of course leads to a... training montage!!!
after the miracles of the training montage he is a great a powerful warrior
who can take out 10 guys with the flick of a wrist! with this strength
he goes to confront Crow. Now the fight sequence during the eclipse was
probably one of the most craziest of all time!
it was truly awesome and at the end Jaa get stabbed through the heart
with a spear and you think its the end but he some how pulls a
Christopher Reeve's Superman and some how reverses time
ending the eclipse and removing Crows supernatural powers.
Once that is done Jaa lays into Crow and it becomes a Light (Jaa) VS. Darkness (Crow)
type of fight which I don't think was as good as the one before he reversed time.
in the end Jaa wins and everyone is happy.
This was a quick movie and was a basic "Hero Returns" type of story
where the second one left on a somewhat of a cliffhanger where you see
him get his ass handed to him. The sets were simple but cool , the music
was great and very dramatic and the stunts/fights
were of course beyond impressive you just want to watch this movie just to
see Tony Jaa doing all kinds of crazy stuff. It was a good fun watch though
and finished off the story from the previous film which was its main goal

Inception

"Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real? What if
you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference
between the dream world and the real world?"
-Morpheus
The Matrix, 1999

With a masterful vision and an expert hand we get Inception.
Of course much like the movie the quite above is from we are asked
"What truly is Real" and of course there can be many parallels drawn between
this and the Matrix.
of course I'm not going to delve deep into what they are I don't think you want
to spend hours reading them any more then I want to spend that time writing them.
But enought about that were are here to talk about Christopher Nolan's stunning
new masterpiece.
I'll have to say the film is nicely cast and of course Nolan brought some
friends with him from Gotham City (Cillian Murphy, Ken Watanabe and Michael Caine)
and speaking of the Batman, The sweeping beautiful score of this film which
sadly I thought over shadowed the dialogue at times does sound like what we
heard in the Batman films. I'm not saying that's a bad thing its just something
I noticed is all. As for the films story it is so complex and multilayered that I at
times think it was struggling beneath its own brilliance.
I personally think with a film such as this you would have to watch it a couple of
time to truly see everything and to truly grasp the film as a whole and I don't think
the average movie goer would maybe have trouble completely comprehending
what they are watching.
Now with that said in my opinion at the very core of this movie it's a story about a
man who is lost (not physically mind you but more emotionally and mentally) and
trying to make up for past mistakes and gets the opportunity in doing so.
That is were the ending comes into I felt it was kind of a cheat the not knowing
for sure but I think he (DiCaprio's character) achieved his goal and found redemption
and his way home.
Now the one thing I had a problem with was the "how they could do what they did"
it was all "hey we can enter people dreams" but there was in my opinion no real
explanation about how that came about there is a quick explanation but I expected a
bit more. Also when it came to the ability to enter the dreams is it only certain people
who have this ablity? or can just anyone do it?
becasue DiCaprio's character just goes and like picks up Ellen Page and he is all
"we can mess with peoples dreams, we are doing it right now!" and then she is all
"seriously? cool!" and then she starts doing all kinds of crazy stuff and being all Neo
and shit and he is all "She is The One" and at that scene which was cool and all but I was
thinking she took to it a little to quickly. That also brings into the question of the
technology are part of the quick explanation I mentioned above they don't really go
into where it came from they do the whole "Milaraty devemopment" thing but that
makes you wonder did DiCaprio's character develop it or design it? if not where and how
did he get his hands on it? you really don't find that out.
Now another big draw of this film behind its story was the effects.
This film is a visual masterpiece in itself the effects were purely astonishing
and are pulled off with jaw dropping brilliance which you have to see this just for
that alone it was truly impressive.
The action was good, nice fights, fast paced. i did find the movie work quite fast it
seemed slow at first but picked up speed. Some scenes that stand out and where some
what humorous where the van falling into the river every time it cut to that it was kind
of funny in the slow motion way.
Also the snow sequence was kind of funny it seemed like something out of
James Bond or G.I. Joe but was cool and just different for this I guess.
In the end this was a great movie I wouldn't recommend it to everyone it
might go over some peoples heads but I thought it was excellent on all aspects.
this will probably be nominated for a few Oscars and most likely will win.

Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal

This was one of those Lifetime movies Where I live we don't have
lifetime we have a similar thing called Slice which stands for a "Slice of life"
I believe we also have the W Network which of course the W stands for
Women but its all pretty much the same thing. Anyway... I am not a woman,
but I don't mind watching these movies from time to time some of them can
be very good.

Now apparently this is Based On A True Story where in a High school
in Texas a coach is hired to teach cheer leading and she get more then
want she bargained for when a few of the girls know as the "Fab Five"
seek to have her fired because she tried to being in some discipline and
didn't let the girls run wild like everyone else.
We start off with an excited and happy woman Emma Carr (played by
Jenna Dewan, who is quite attractive might I add) who gets what I guess
is her dream job but she soon runs a foul of Brooke (played by Ashley Benson)
who is a super bitch and the one who believes she is running the school along
with her pack of vicious friends who are also Spoiled little bitches who believe
they deserve special treatment and think they can do whatever they please.
Emma tried to bring in some discipline and actually help out the girls and
their squad but the "Fab Five" seem to not want any of that and set out
to ruin Emma's efforts and make her quit, there is even a scene where
Emma seems Talk some sense into Brooke and actually appears to be a
Moment of triumph in getting everyone on the same page
but it is a fleeting moment as the girls begin to take the term
"Mean Girls" to a whole new level with a racy internet video (if its on the
internet someone would have found it eventually) and beating up and
threatening the other cheerleaders who side with Emma while at the same
time making her life a living hell even the scene where they are wasted on
school property and get off scott free because there is no proof! to wich
I was No proof of drinking? couldn't smell it on them or their breath?
Emma tries to get the school administration to have with punishments but
the Principal (who is Brookes mom) is more concerned about being her daughters
friend and being popular with the girls then doing whats right not only that
but the Parents of the "Fab Five" are crazy saying that Emma is harassing their
children which it is in fact the other way around everyone tries to tear her
down and persecute her and tried to make her look mentally unstable and
she is eventually fired from her job.
But in the end the girls started a war and lost becasue the truth come out
through an independent investigator and Coach Emma is vindicated of any
wrong doing Principal is suspended and the girls removed from school and
the cheer squad goes on to greatness with out the rule of Brooke and her goons
and in the end Emma is reunited with the lives she truly touched.

With that the movie was pretty good, I thought it was nicely shot as well as
edited the music was overly noticeable and it did kept me interested. Not just
becasue of the whole cheerleader angle but of the story. I found it rather shocking
that they did nothing to help the Emma character when she was having a problem
with the girls they would rather turn a blind eye to it rather then fix it. I have heard
stories about stuff like this happening to Sports teams like football and basketball
"as long as their winning, who cares if their passing their classes" well they should
care because the school work is just as important as the "Big Game" or even more
so with out a proper education they are really doing a dis service to the students.
But all in all this was a pretty good movie I'd have to say I did enjoy it.

The Turn of the Screw (2009) BBC

The reason I watched this is I read a Graphic Novel of the same
name a couple of years ago and when I seen the title I thought to
myself "That sounds familiar" Upon watching the movie It was
similar to the thing I had read but with some minor differences.
As for the movie itself it wasn't all that bad it was a pretty good ghost story
in a way it slightly reminded me of the Nicole Kidman film
the Others in the way that you know something is going on but
don't quite know what it is. Also the house this takes place in the
exterior looks like the place they used for Croft Manor in Tomb Raider.
Also there was a slight bit of nudity and a touch of eroticism in this
as well, but like I said it wasn't a bad movie
had some nice acting as well as some good camera work I
thought, But nothing to special about this one.

The Losers (2010)

Now sadly I didn't get a chance to read the book series this is biased
off of before I watched this but i might do it later on. I would have
to say it wasn't a bad movie, had some nice action, a few cool stunts
some slick effects, plenty of humor (which was mostly provided by
Chris Evans) some interesting twists. It was quite fast paced I didn't
find that in lingered to long on any given spot.

I did like the opening title that was pretty cool and I also
like the "location text" it was similar to have it is done on the
TV series Fringe. There were some predictable moments like
the helicopter blowing up I knew that was coming.

While watching it I was thinking that is was similar to
the "A-Team" basically the same story but the, lets say
villain or "Bad Guy" of the film who goes simply as
"Max" seems like he is right out of a James Bond movie he
is that type of "Super Villain" so basically from my
perspective its "The A-Team meets James Bond" in a way.
That is not really a bad thing it creates
a fun, enjoyable action packed watch.

Mega Man

Again I know what your thinking " Mega Man? the video game? They
never made a movie about that!" and my response to that is "Yes they
did!" or at least someone did! Now I have been a somewhat fan of
Mega Man (or Rocket Man as he is know in Japan) for a long time I played
the first one on the NES and most of the orginal series right up to
Mega Man X on SNES it was always a fun game. Now I was surprised
to see this movie. True it wasn't a big Hollywood Blockbuster it is
more of a little independent thing like something you would see from
Aslyum pictures. But.. that being said it wasn't to bad it was pretty
much a origin story, about how Mega Man was created and why
Doctor Wily is evil.

There was some cheesy effects and some bad acting and speaking
of bad acting the person playing Dr.Wily (Dave Mulbeck) was so
over the top it was laughable. Not only that but I couldn't stop
looking at the huge pimple on this forehead (lol). Also the one
playing the character of Roll was a little annoying, she somewhat
what bugged me a bit but I guess that was just me. I also seen
Mega Man as being very futuristic like in the games but this seems
to take play in modern day New York City (being low bidget you
don't have much for sets and production design) but that is not
necessarily a bad thing now.

Also the Evil robot master where pretty cool especially Cutman
and Gutsman they looked very similar to their game counter parts
it was quite awesome. As for the Mega Man and Protoman (yes Protoman)
were actually pretty good for this. This also had some
excellent music and a lot of game referances as well as
Dr.Wily's floating island!
If you were/are a Mefa Man fan seek this out and give it a watch
you might like it, if your not a fan pass on it.

Tooth Fairy (2010)

Staring a whole host of familiar faces such as Julie Andrews, Ashley Judd
and Billy Crystal (who had some funny scenes) and even Seth MacFarlane
has a quick scene in this but mostly is a vehicle for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
to dazzle use with his comedic skills and wit.
basically this is one of those moves where they take a well known "Action Star"
and place them in a family/comedy movie environment. Many action type actors
have went down this road from Vin Diesel in the The Pacifier , to Arnold in
stuff like Kindergarten Cop and Twins and even Sylvester Stallone with
Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot and yes even the Immortal Hulk Hogan went
down this road also Santa with Muscles, anyone?

Anyway this film has a pretty classic story the main character doesn't
believe in something and then ends up becoming what they don't believe
in or finding out the truth in some way. Kind of similar to the The
Santa Clause with Tim Allen.
There where was some nice acting in this and I do like The Rock, but
I don't really favor all these family comedy's he has been in they were
ok mind you and the Rock is a funny guy but I would rather see him
cracking jokes while kicking someones ass rather then cracking jokes
while dancing around in a pink tutu.

I found the whole thing with "the girlfriends son" a bit awkward,
you can tell Rock doesn't want to get to close to the kid becasue
the kid is jaded and wants to keep any man seeing his mom at arms
length which is understandable but you can tell that Rock is actually
trying to warm up to the kid if he just gives him a chance, which comes
in the scene at the music store when Rock stand up for the little guy then
it seems that they became friends too fast, I don't know maybe its just me
but also you only have 2 hours to do this story. The scenes in the
"training montage" kind of help that out.

The effects in this were pretty good the stinking and invisibility stuff
was pretty fun and the scene with the googly eyed dog was pretty funny.
This does have some great moments that do make you chuckle
but I wouldn't consider it overly funny.
Also what about the ending? After he went through all that with the
fairies they just erase his memory?!? which left me thinking, what
was the point of going through all that? was it to say don't give up
on your dreams? or if you have dreams you are a happier better
person? or was it just to motivate the Rock's character out of a slump?
They said he had to be a fairy for the allotted amount of time as punishment
but how is the punishment suppose to stick if they just erase your memory?
I don't know... anyway it wasn't a bad movie, it was pretty alright and
it is worth a watch so give it a try.

Tekken

I know what your thinking "Tekken? the video game?" and yes the very one!
This is the Live action Film adaption!

I would have to say I was very please with it, it is done similar to the way
Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter where done (more like the first Mortal Kombat
film and way better then Street Fighter and of course way better then DOA: Dead or Alive)
They pretty much explain everything at the start and then get right into the tournament
I Found the characters looked like their game counterparts and acted like them
as well. I thought this was a very faithful adaption of the game series . It was nicely
shot , well edited and the music was even very good. The fights were cool and
enjoyable to watch. I didn't find it lagged anywhere and the story was kinda loose
and not to serious this was a high energy action movie from start to finish.
I would have to say I liked it, it was a good watch and it was left somewhat open
at the end for any possible sequels plus there is a bit of a reviling scene after the credits.

Willow 1988

Staring Val Kilmer, Directed by Ron Howard and with the magic of Lucas Film comes
a great adventure for all ages.
I remember when this opened in theaters way back when and re watching it now
in a time where Lord of the Rings has become a big commercial success and you can
see some of that in here probably influences from the original J.R.R. Tolkien
novels the little people the Nelwyn would easily be the Hobbits at least I think so.
Also I believe a Live Action Hobbit if done around the same time would look very similar.
But this is a fun adventure that can be greatly enjoyed some of the acting at times
is a little laughable but still good. It has some good action and some cool effects for
the time (apparently this was the first feature length film to use the "morphing"
process) it has some wonderful scenery and a nice story.
The music does remind me a bit of Indiana Jones with that big boisterous
orchestral score also the "shield ride " down the mountain makes me think
of the scene from Temple of Doom with the life raft.
One of the other cool things was the dragon it was pretty neat. There is some
humor mostly provided by the little forest fairy things called "Brownies" but
this was a cool movie and still pretty much is.

The Abyss 1989

This is for the 1993 Special Edition that clocks in at almost 3hours!

This is also the movie that made the T-1000 from Terminator 2 possible!

I would have to say being that this is the first time I have ever seen this I would have
to say it was quite the film it was truly vintage James Cameron.
It was exciting, suspenseful and had a seance of wonder and discovery. Now being this
was the first time I had watched this it made me kind of think of Michael Bay's
Armageddon, but underwater! Now that is what I thought anyway.
but the movie is fantastic The title fade animation for the logo was pretty cool
The stuff with the sub at the beginning of the movie was pretty cool
I personally think all the underwater action was amazing. The production design
was impressive yet familiar The suits and equipment had a good look I would say
that this was in a near future but not to far where everything still look like things
in the modern day. The effects were impressive (for the time) The look of the
alien beings was pretty good so was the look of there technology, the big ship Lindsey
see in very manta like but the little one that is buzzing around look like of like a
penis! which made me laugh.
While I was watching and the whole crane breaking sequence I was wondering
when the thing started falling into the abyss you would think they would have some
type of control in big rig they were living in to be able to detach the cable in case an
emergency, I guess that Lindsey one didn't think it was a good idea to ad that
feature when she was designing the thing.
Also much like Avatars environmental message This also carries one as well
a message against war and the atrocities we perpetrate on each other as a people
which I can always get behind. Think of what we as a race could achieve if we actually
worked together! but no we are to busy being engaged in petty squabbles and
trying to destroy each other rather then working towards a greater good for all man kind.
Anyway this was a truly amazing enjoyable film and after watching it I wonder why I didn't
see it sooner.

The Abandoned (2006)

Wow, that was quite the spookfest.

This is a weirdly odd little film, it doesn't start out that way but around the last 10-20 minutes
its like a true decent into madness. But it also is a film that is very very well done
it has stunning sweeping shots and beautiful cinematography with alot of nice camera
work and a very haunting sound both in sound design and in the very subtle score.
The movie also is disturbingly atmospheric and has this spooky dark creepiness about it
that you know something is going to happen and you don't want to take your eyes off it
not even for a second. Also there seemed to be alot of symbolism in this also... I don't
know if I truly picked up on what it was trying to mean but you could tell it was
showing you something was important. This also has some nice effects as well
it wasn't heavy on the effects but when it did something it was quite impressive.
there were plenty of moments where I was "whoa no way!" or "huh? that's crazy!"
the movie almost seems to pride itself on these and I was freaking out a bet here and there
One of the scenes I thought was pretty good on the wow was the bullet scene where the
character of Nicolai was fixing his leg wound I was thinking "Man, this guys tough!"
but this was a wonderful Horror movie for the Ghost/Haunted House type
I would have to say I did enjoy it, even thought the ending was kind of weird
but that was ok.

Elvira's Haunted Hills

Elvira, everyone's favorite busty ghoul returns in a all new zany adventure!

I would have to say I did enjoy the previous one it was pretty good so I thought
I would give this a watch also. I would have to say I did like the opening credits
sequence, it was simple but cool.
While watching this I noticed that Elvira did appear slightly older being the
original movie was done in the 80s and this new one in 2001, not older by much
but you do notice. also this takes place in 1851? I was thinking how does this make
sense if the other one take place in the 80s? so I would have to say that this was some
type of prequel or something.
But the movie is alright with its cheesy humor and Elvira herself with her
sarcastic wit and crazy pop culture references which will most likely
give you a smirk or at least make you roll your eyes.
One of the best things about this would have to have been the
musical number I thought that was probably the funny part of the whole
film. Is this one better then the original? I don't think it is but it was
pretty good all the same if you like the character of Elvira then give this one a
watch.

RSO [Registered Sex Offender]

Now I don't know what to really make of this. It's one of those mock documentarys
or "mocumentarys" as people call them where it is a fictional film presented as a
documentary film. at first I thought it was a actual documentary but that feeling faded fast
becasue it is so over the top and you can tell it is all fake especially when you get to the end.
The basic story is the main character get into trouble do to a misunderstanding and is
sent to prison and labeled a sex offender. He is released and after he does his time
in prison and basically shows him readjusting to life once he gets out. it is a rather
funny film which will give you a laugh here and there from the main characters
wacky antics. I wouldn't say it is a good one and it isn't a bad one either
it was alright and filled the time.
One of the best things about it was the main characters girlfriend "Tina"
played by Kristen Tucker is very attractive. anyway if you like these wacky
films you might like this one also.

Batman: Under the Red Hood

I went to pick this up on release day and on Blu-ray of course. Like Ii do with all the DC Animated movies.
and like all the other ones I was not disappointed. The story flowed with great ease and if you didn't already
know the out come this would have a great mystery to it as you follow the Dark Knight as he searches for the answer of "Who is the red hood?"
I would have to say all the chase and fight sequences are amazingly done. The animation is so perfectly flawless
you loose sight that you are actually watching an animated film. Some of the best scenes in this feature are supplied by the villain Black Mask he comes off as such an over the top villain you just have to laugh some times. Also other scenes that were great of course involved the Joker who had some good dialog in this
although the voice casting was very good and Bruce Greenwood did do a very good Batman,
I felt John Di Maggio didn't do an equally as good Joker I felt he lacked something in his voicing of the character but that might just be me. As for the rest of the voice cast they did very well.
One of the best parts of this was the show down at the end where Red Hood and Batman have their confrontation and the intense moment that follows that includes the Joker. It was a great climax to a awesome movie. and Speaking of the end the end credits thing with the rain drops touching down and splashing was cool to watch.
The special features are pretty standard on this much like the previous DC ones with a preview of the next one, Some Documentarys and some TV episodes.
As for the DC Showcase animated short I love these things I thought The Spectre one was very good and with this we have one for Jonah Hex (probably becasue of the movie) I would have to say this for just a little 10minute thing boasted some big names for voice talent such as Tomas Jane, Linda Hamilton and Jason Marsden. This was very good also I like the story and the animation again was perfectly flawless and it had a nice end to it that made me laugh. in the end this was a great adaption of more DC works and I can't wait for the next.
