Fast Five (2011)

The Engines race and its pedtal to the metal
in the 5th installment of the wildly popular
and sucessful Fast and the Furious Franchise!

Picking up where the fourth left off
(The movie actually starts at the ending
of the fourth as you see the out come of
the 4th again) and then we get sent to
beautiful Rio where we find people have
moved on, Have new lives but a job brings
everyone back together.

The whole train sequence was very cool
this series still manages to pull off the most crazy stunts and make it
all look so easy. I have to wonder if Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel)
is a descendent of Captain Jack Sparrow (LOL!)
But after the train job goes not as planed and the team comes under fire
from a vicious crime lord while also being blamed for crimes they didn't
commit they have to out run and out smart a special forces leader
(played by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) who has been brought in
to take down Vin Diesel and Paul Walker's characters once and for all.

With a race against time to take down the crime lord and take everything
he has while at the same time out maneuver The Rock.
Do Dominic (Diesel) and his team have enough horse power? or are
they going to be left with their wheels spinning when this final job
goes from Mission Impossible to Mission Freaking Insanity?

Personally I loved this movie I thought it was fast, fun and exciting.
this is how you make the "Fast" movies work by going back to what made
the original so good. The main cast with some new faces along the way.

have plenty of action the fight scenes were pretty amazing especially
the one with Vin Diesel and The Rock I enjoyed that very much.
It was truly excellent.
Now that The Rock fought Riddick we have to get him to fight
a Predator! wouldn't that be awesome?

anyway the fights I really enjoyed and the stunts were also very
impressive its like they think "what crazy thing can we pull off next?"
Like I mentioned the whole train sequence was equally impressive
if not more so was the towing of the huge safe through the city.
That whole sequence was very wow inducing there much have been
alot of CG used for that I would think.
But all in all I enjoyed this. The story was pretty good
I felt there was some more character development and showing
some more of there pasts. There was also some good humor that
should give you a laugh or 2.
Also The Rock did a very good job in this. He was good in this role
as a cop that was very good at his job, but in the end his is like
Walker from the end of the first movie.
Now like I said I really enjoyed this, If you are a fan of the series
or just want something that is fast, fun and wild that this for a spin.

Also stay tuned for after the credits for an extra scene
that might lead to a ghostly return of someone who
was thought to be dead.

Faster 2010

The Rock is back in action! *que Heavy metal guitar riff*

The first thing I noticed about this film was the opening logos
(yes the logos again) the first one was CBS Films and I was
thinking CBS Films? CBS as in the TV Channel??

Anyway after thinking about that I would have to say
this movie lived up to its name it was pretty fast. Your basic
story is just this: The Rock who's character is just called The
Driver (that is one think I liked about this was the main character's
names are more like titles The Driver, The Cop, The Killer..)
and his brother were bank robbers and they end up getting screwed
over by someone and it results in the Rock's brother getting killed.
After he gets out of Prison for the bank robbery's He goes on a mission to hunt
down the people who screwed him over and killed his brother.
The story is simple as that.

You end up finding out all the back story though flashback and there is 2 second subplots
from the main story involving as I mention above The Cop and The Killer. As the movie
rolls on you find out all the little details like the importance of the One Dollar Bills
(you have to watch to understand it). As for the movie itself it was quite good it was a good
revenge movie, The one man alone against the world to avenge a wrong done to him or
someone close to him. It reminded me of stuff like Walking Tall or Get Carter
(The Stallone version, I never the original) It has some very nice action as well as
some great car chases.
No real stunts I found it was pretty down and gritty not alot of Flash.
The music was pretty good also it was also very dramatic and Emotional at times I thought
it was a very well rounded and enjoyable watch.

The Other Guys (2010)

The Other guys

I remember seeing the trailers for this and thinking it would be a funny movie
and I would have to say I though right.
It is I would say an Action comedy with buddy move elements
and has a very good cast who I think really shine in this.
Your basic story is as follows Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
are your stereotypical Action Hero Cops who engage in over the top stunts/explosions
gun fights, One Liners and Sexy Women. They are the Heroes of the city everyone
loves them and they are on top of the world...and then there is the Other guys
Will Ferrell who plays a some what odd yet nave Detective who would rather
enjoy his desk job then be out in the field and this partner played by
Mark Wahlberg who is somewhat hot tempered and has anger issues but dreams
of being in The Rock & Jackson's spot. (Wahlberg & Ferrell come off as the
stereotypical buddy cops) After the humorous demise of The Rock & Jackson
in one of their over the top stunts Wahlberg & Ferrell end up stumbling on
to a big case and have their chance to be the heroes and save the city.
Now personally I thought this move was incredibility funny
There was some narration by Ice T that adds so much to this and makes
it so funny. The action and stunts were all done with a comedic
feel to them even the as I mentioned above he humorous demise of
The Rock & Jackson's characters. The music in this I felt fit
and added to the humor at time.
There were alot of very funny parts that you have to laugh becasue
they were at time a bit odd like the singing parts and the weird
type of drinking/ getting drunk montage where it look almost like
a beer commercial. Also the bribe scenes with Wahlberg & Ferrell
were great fun. Also the visit to Ferrell's character's ex's house
was kinda weird but the recounting of his past was rather funny and
just highlights how clueless he is.
all in all this was a great movie it starts off with a bang and then
rolls out the laughs.
also the statistics during the end credits were cool and also there
is a scene after the credits as well.

Tooth Fairy (2010)

Staring a whole host of familiar faces such as Julie Andrews, Ashley Judd
and Billy Crystal (who had some funny scenes) and even Seth MacFarlane
has a quick scene in this but mostly is a vehicle for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
to dazzle use with his comedic skills and wit.
basically this is one of those moves where they take a well known "Action Star"
and place them in a family/comedy movie environment. Many action type actors
have went down this road from Vin Diesel in the The Pacifier , to Arnold in
stuff like Kindergarten Cop and Twins and even Sylvester Stallone with
Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot and yes even the Immortal Hulk Hogan went
down this road also Santa with Muscles, anyone?

Anyway this film has a pretty classic story the main character doesn't
believe in something and then ends up becoming what they don't believe
in or finding out the truth in some way. Kind of similar to the The
Santa Clause with Tim Allen.
There where was some nice acting in this and I do like The Rock, but
I don't really favor all these family comedy's he has been in they were
ok mind you and the Rock is a funny guy but I would rather see him
cracking jokes while kicking someones ass rather then cracking jokes
while dancing around in a pink tutu.

I found the whole thing with "the girlfriends son" a bit awkward,
you can tell Rock doesn't want to get to close to the kid becasue
the kid is jaded and wants to keep any man seeing his mom at arms
length which is understandable but you can tell that Rock is actually
trying to warm up to the kid if he just gives him a chance, which comes
in the scene at the music store when Rock stand up for the little guy then
it seems that they became friends too fast, I don't know maybe its just me
but also you only have 2 hours to do this story. The scenes in the
"training montage" kind of help that out.

The effects in this were pretty good the stinking and invisibility stuff
was pretty fun and the scene with the googly eyed dog was pretty funny.
This does have some great moments that do make you chuckle
but I wouldn't consider it overly funny.
Also what about the ending? After he went through all that with the
fairies they just erase his memory?!? which left me thinking, what
was the point of going through all that? was it to say don't give up
on your dreams? or if you have dreams you are a happier better
person? or was it just to motivate the Rock's character out of a slump?
They said he had to be a fairy for the allotted amount of time as punishment
but how is the punishment suppose to stick if they just erase your memory?
I don't know... anyway it wasn't a bad movie, it was pretty alright and
it is worth a watch so give it a try.
